European Day of Languages!

Welcome back! As I mentioned in my latest post, Thursday 26th September 2019 was the European Day of Languages. To celebrate, the languages department of Pitsford School organised entertaining language related activities for each tutor group to get everyone involved.

Some of the challenges included:

1) Finding a song/ cartoon/ downloading an app in a foreign language

2) Changing your phone settings to a different language

3) Cooking a non-English traditional dish (e.g. crepes – France / paella – Spain) This was a challenge I particularly enjoyed! 🙂

4) Teaching your tutor a phrase in a foreign language. Here are some of my examples!

Deutsch: Es ist noch kein Meister vom Himmel gefallen - practice makes perfect!
Français: L'herbe est toujours plus verte chez le voisin - the grass is always greener on the other side!

Everyone tried their best and had a great time completing these activities together however, there is always a winner and the scores on the doors are… Wake was the winning house with a total of 177 points, closely followed by Hesketh with 161 points and finally Robinson with 114 points. A special mention also goes out to the tutor groups that collected the highest amount of points – Year 9 Hesketh and Year 10 Wake both collected 56 points! Well done, you are all true language experts!
